South Africa’s Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system provides a streamlined digital platform through which eligible foreign nationals can manage certain visitor-related immigration processes. The system is currently available to nationals of 45 eligible countries, providing a more accessible and efficient online process for qualifying travellers.
Extending Visitor Status Through the ETA System
Importantly, foreign nationals who have entered South Africa and were granted visitor status by way of a Port of Entry stamp may use the ETA system to apply for an extension of their authorised stay from within South Africa, subject to meeting the applicable requirements.
This provides eligible visitors with a digital route to extend their stay without having to navigate a traditional paper-based application process.
