South Africa’s Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) lets eligible travellers apply for a Visitor’s Visa to South Africa online. The system is currently open to citizens of 53 countries, making the process quicker, simpler and more convenient. Eligible visitors can complete their application without needing to visit an embassy or consulate in person.
Extending Visitor Status Through the ETA System
Importantly, foreign nationals who have entered South Africa and were granted visitor status by way of a Port of Entry stamp may use the ETA system to apply for an extension of their authorised stay from within South Africa, subject to meeting the applicable requirements.
This provides eligible visitors with a digital route to extend their stay without having to navigate a traditional paper-based application process.
