South Africa’s newly approved Immigration White Paper has introduced one of the most significant shifts to immigration policy in decades. For many highly skilled foreign nationals currently working in the country, it may be time to seriously consider applying for permanent residence sooner rather than later.
For now, South Africa’s Retired Person Visa remains one of the most accessible routes for foreign nationals wanting to relocate here, but that window is beginning to close with stricter requirements for this visa category expected soon.
As Angola accelerates investment across energy, infrastructure and industrial sectors, it is fast becoming a strategic destination for South African companies expanding into West and Central Africa. From oil and gas mega-projects to refinery developments and new mining opportunities, the demand for foreign expertise is increasing but so too is regulatory complexity.
Are you a highly skilled international professional whose expertise is in short supply in South Africa’s local labour market? Or are you an employer operating in a high-demand sector, struggling to find the relevant skills locally?
As Mozambique re-emerges as a key investment destination in Africa, particularly following the recent restart of the landmark Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) project led by TotalEnergies, the demand for foreign skills is expected to increase significantly. For employers, this renewed economic momentum presents both opportunity and risk, particularly when it comes to immigration compliance.
